September is Emergency Preparedness Month
Every month is Emergency Preparedness Month as far as the ePREP Committee is concerned. But—as if we need any reminders right now—the federal government has obligingly designated September as the real deal. The theme for this year’s National Preparedness Month is “Disasters don’t wait. Make your plan today.”
We wholeheartedly agree.
With that in mind, we encourage you to check in with your ePREP floor captain to make sure that all of your relevant information is up to date. A critical piece of this is whether you’re likely to need help in an emergency—for instance, getting down the stairs in an evacuation, getting pets out if you’re off-site when an evacuation is ordered, etc.
As a back-up to your floor captain having that information, you can also make it readily available to first responders by having it included in the Waterfront Pearl’s key resource document for dealing with an emergency. If you’d like to have your information available in this way, please contact Anne Samson at firstname.lastname@example.org. Anne is also the person to contact if you’re not sure who your floor captain is.
