Social Committee members voted at their August meeting to cancel the WFP summer picnic event. While there will be some reimbursements due for a few items already acquired, our largest picnic expenses were canceled without penalty. We hope to revitalize this —and other— WFP events as health concerns become less of an issue.
In related news, it was decided to hold off on polling residents about other possible events. We’d like everyone to be in a comfortable mindset when responding, and to not answer in the context of COVID.
This means it’s likely Social Committee will not meet or have much activity until the Oregon Health Authority gives guidance that allows larger gatherings. Though the current mandate still allows outdoor gatherings of up to 25 people, that number is considered too small a target for the committee events.
Our budget dollars will therefore go mostly unused in 2021.
We look forward to seeing everyone just as soon as it’s once again feasible!
